Our Current Commitment:

Recent $185 million investment in two newly opened state of the art freight facilities located in Wellington and Auckland. Both sites include Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) to deliver reductions in the company’s environmental footprint. These include LED lighting, translucent roof sheeting to minimise light usage throughout the day, adaptable lighting and mechanical controls to help drive down energy use. Both sites have been selected and designed to ensure easy access to the rail network, with trains able to dock within the Auckland terminal, building on TGE’s commitment to providing customers low carbon modes of transport to move their freight across New Zealand.

Since 2015, we have seen a strong year on year emission reduction; minimising our tC02 per 1000m3 of freight from 24.47 in 2015/16 to 16.62 in 2018/19.
